Hospitals Abound For the Needs of Beaufort Real Estate Owners
Beaufort SC has two hospitals to care for the needs of the community. Beaufort Memorial Hospital, a not-for-profit community hospital, and Naval Hospital Beaufort, which serves active military personnel and those retired from the armed forces and their families.
Dozens of public and private facilities also offer specialized medical services for Beaufort real estate owners, in addition to home care services, assisted-living homes, gyms, exercise classes and a nursing home.
Beaufort Memorial Hospital
Beaufort Memorial Hospital has a medical staff of more than 100 board-certified specialists and offers a full range of sophisticated services to the Beaufort SC community, both inpatient and outpatient care and a 24-hour Emergency Department, with a fast track for minor emergencies. The Birthing Center boasts a Level II Nursery, keeping sick babies close to home.
An innovative partnership with Duke University Medical Center gives Beaufort Memorial Hospital an edge in developing regional cancer and heart centers. It means that Beaufort area physicians and patients have access to Duke’s expertise, clinical trials and consulting physicians. Beaufort Memorial Hospital physicians, nurses, and other professionals can take advantage of Duke’s outstanding continuing education programs.
A successful campaign by the Beaufort community raised $10 million to help pay for new facilities, which added the Cochrane Heart Center and the Keyserling Cancer Center to Beaufort Memorial Hospital’s capabilities. 
Keeping pace with technological advances, Beaufort Memorial Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the region to acquire a state-of-the-art “Fast” CT scanner. The Beaufort Memorial Hospital is also home to the latest in MRI technology, offering imaging services that better accommodate patients. Tests are done in a fraction of the standard procedure time, a comfort to claustrophobic patients. The imaging unit is the only one of its kind between Columbia, South Carolina and Jacksonville, Florida.
Beaufort Memorial Hospital offers special programs in asthma management, pain management, diabetes care and heart and lung fitness. A new “total joint program” streamlines care for joint replacement patients.
A continuing program of evening classes addresses health concerns and problems for Beaufort real estate owners, from stopping smoking to cancer awareness to shortness of breath. There is a long list of support groups that meet regularly at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Other classes teach lifesaving skills such as how to perform CPR.

Located on Ribaut Road, Beaufort Memorial Hospital is an epicenter of Beaufort’s medical community, with clinics and doctors’ offices concentrated in the surrounding area. The Hospital has a free Doctor Referral Service with a local and toll-free number.
Naval Hospital Beaufort
Some Beaufort real estate owners selected Beaufort SC for retirement due to the close proximity of the Naval Hospital Beaufort, which has been described as the best hospital in the Marine Corps. Naval Hospital Beaufort recently ranked No. 1 in customer satisfaction among all naval hospitals serving Marine Corps bases.
Naval Hospital Beaufort takes care of not only servicemen stationed in the Beaufort SC area, but also retired armed forces servicemen and their families. The 33-bed hospital has 24-hour emergency services and a primary care unit for dependents. It also operates clinics at the MCAS and at Parris Island, and has just opened a Veterans Administration clinic to provide health care for veterans in Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton counties.

Eight medical centers including St. Helena, Beaufort and Sheldon offer pediatrics, pharmacy, dental, adult medicine and nutritional counseling, as well as a laboratory.
Emergency Medical Services / 911
Beaufort County has a 911 Emergency System and an EMS network with advanced life support paramedic crews, as well as fire and rescue personnel who are stationed throughout Beaufort County.
Assisted Living
Four assisted living communities in Beaufort, in addition to a nursing home, offer specialized care for seniors of Beaufort real estate. Summit Place on Battery Creek is upscale and has a specialized program for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of memory impairment.
